Long Meadow Fairway

Designed for gathering, the Long Meadow Project balances timeless design with the realities of everyday living. While the clients came to the project with a well-developed floor plan, every finish, fixture, and furnishing was thoughtfully selected to reflect how they live and how they gather. With four grown children, expanding families, and a love of entertaining, the home centers around spaces that bring people together, from the two-island kitchen to the thoughtfully designed lower level. Throughout the process, lead designer Marah Schmitz paired thoughtful planning with practical details—including customized storage, a built-in dog kennel, concealed laundry features, and performance fabrics, to create a home that's as functional as it is beautiful.

Materiality plays a defining role throughout the Long Meadow Project. Rather than relying on a single finish, Marah layered quartz, quartzite, slate, hardwood, porcelain tile, and mixed metals to create warmth, texture, and visual depth. Every selection served a purpose, from seamless kitchen surfaces and hidden TruFig outlets to custom ceiling treatments and a one-of-a-kind dining table, resulting in a home where beauty and function work hand in hand. Thoughtful details, including the hidden pantry, steam shower, and custom millwork, bring a refined sense of craftsmanship to every space.

The home's most memorable spaces are the ones designed specifically around the family who lives there. A custom office showcases years of collected memorabilia through built-in display shelving, while the lower-level golf simulator redefines what a recreation room can be—refined enough for entertaining yet comfortable enough for everyday family life. The result is a home that feels warm, intentional, and deeply personal, proving that thoughtful design isn't just about how a home looks, but how it supports the people who live in it.
